Client Associate

Carter King is a Client Associate in Retirement Plan Services at Clearwater Capital Partners. He supports the Institutional Advisory Services Team and Financial Advisors by managing day-to-day operations with both current and prospective institutional clients. Carter is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the existing client base of Qualified and Non-Qualified plans, addressing participant inquiries as needed. Additionally, he plays a role in cultivating new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with current plan sponsors.

Carter joined Clearwater with nearly four years of experience managing retirement plan trading and operations at FuturePlan by Ascensus, a third-party administrator (TPA) who oversaw more than 38,000 retirement plans with over $119 billion in assets under administration. During his time at Ascensus, he supervised trading activities for multiple trade agents, managed the trading inbox, and collaborated with various teams to serve daily valuation needs for retirement plans. Some of his key responsibilities included performing daily share reconciliations, monitoring trade settlements, processing payments to advisors and recordkeepers, preparing broker commission statements, and managing over 1,200 participant loans.

Carter interned at Clearwater Capital Partners during the summer of 2019, where he gained valuable experience in both the administrative and client-facing aspects of the financial services industry. His primary focus was on assisting the Director of Retirement Plan Services in advising companies that sponsor qualified retirement savings plans. He prepared monitoring reports on fund menus, researched potential fund replacements, and addressed various needs of plan sponsors, trustees, and participants. During this internship, Carter developed a strong foundational knowledge of retirement plan management and the key roles involved in the process.

Carter earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, where he still resides with his wife, Jacqueline. In his free time, Carter enjoys spending time with his family, serving as part of his local church, and playing golf.
